Sylvia Zawistowska
Sylvia Zawistowska is a passionate visual artist and muralist whose creative journey began in childhood, drawing in her living room. Her early passion for art persisted through grade school and college, where she often found herself sketching instead of studying. Despite initial doubts about pursuing art as a career, a serendipitous reconnection with an old friend inspired Sylvia to take a leap of faith into the art world.
This pivotal moment led to the creation of Further Art Designs, Sylvia’s mural business. After collaborating on a couple of projects, she realized that her dream of being a professional artist was not only possible but deeply fulfilling. Today, Sylvia channels her creativity and talent into transforming public spaces with her unique vision.
Educated at Montclair State University, Sylvia holds a Bachelor's degree in Visual Arts and a Master's degree in Teaching Students with Disabilities. This diverse educational background informs her inclusive approach to art and her ability to communicate complex ideas visually to the environment and people around her.
Sylvia’s artistic style is a captivating blend of surrealism, inspired by nature, daydreams, and human emotions. While her primary focus lies in drawing and collage, she continually experiments with various mediums, incorporating diverse techniques to create innovative works of art.
As a muralist, Sylvia has left her mark on various establishments, including Rutherford Coffee Co. in Rutherford, NJ, the Fair Lawn School District, and Healthy Blendz in Wood-Ridge, NJ. Her approach to mural creation is characterized by a deep commitment to understanding her clients' visions and translating them into compelling visual narratives that exceed expectations.
Influenced by the Impressionist and Surrealist art movements, Sylvia is drawn to vibrant colors, subconscious imagery, and the rebellious spirit of these eras. Her work aims to evoke feelings of excitement, inclusion, and beauty, creating spaces that resonate with viewers.
Currently, Sylvia is working on a magazine collage series, and mixed media pieces. Sylvia is actively participating in art shows and art vending events to showcase her work, and to build a following. Her future aspirations include becoming a traveling muralist, spreading her unique vision and creativity across diverse communities.
Through her art, Sylvia continues to push boundaries, challenge perceptions, and create masterpieces that not only embellish spaces but also to bring communities together.
